2019-2020 New Faculty

New faculty for the 2019-2020 school year, from left, are: Dr. Patrick Fitzgerald, Michele Krasznai, Aidan Clark-Long, Carole Bird, Adam Matlock, Michael Gustin, and Bernadette Niedermeier.



Carole Bird
 – Carole will serve as Associate Director of College Counseling.  Carole graduated from Colby College, magna cum laude, and went on to earn an MBA from NYU’s Stern School of Business. Carole and her husband lived and worked in Hong Kong for the last 18 years, and she spent the last 10 years serving as an educational consultant with a focus on college counseling.

Aidan Clark-Long – 
Aidan will teach science in the Middle School and coach.  Aidan is a 2019 graduate of Connecticut College where he received a bachelor of arts degree in Environmental Studies and ran for the Cross Country Team.  Aidan is also an alumnus of Suffield Academy. 

Patrick Fitzgerald, Ph.D.
 –  Patrick will teach science and math in the Middle and Upper Schools. Patrick graduated from Vassar College with a degree in Chemistry.  He earned his Ph.D. in Marine Science from Stony Brook University. Patrick has several years of teaching and research experience, including stops at the French American International School and the National Center for International Students.

Michael Gustin
 – Michael will teach math in the Upper School. Michael graduated from Central Michigan University with a bachelor of science degree in Mathematics. He earned graduate degrees from the University of Kentucky in both Mathematics and Education. Prior to joining our faculty, Michael spent the last three years teaching at Bullock Creek High School in Kentucky.

Michele Krasznai
 – Michele will serve as Director of Development. Michele earned a bachelor of science degree in Business and Communications from the University of Rhode Island. She is also a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE). Michele comes to us from St. Joseph's School in Trumbull where she served as Director of Advancement and Alumni Affairs.

Adam Matlock
 – Adam is not new this year as he joined the Hamden Hall faculty on a part-time basis at the start of the second semester last year. This year, Adam will be with us for the full year teaching Middle School music.  Adam is a graduate of Hampshire College with a degree in Music Composition and Fiction Writing. Adam’s teaching experience includes the Neighborhood Music School, The Foote School, and New Haven Academy.

Bernadette Niedermeier
 – Bernadette joins our library staff in a part-time capacity.  Bernadette comes to us with many years of library experience including stops at Gateway Community College where she is also an adjunct piano instructor, West Haven Public Library, Westbrook Middle school, and Old Lyme Phoebe Griffin Noyes Library.  Bernadette earned a bachelor of arts degree in Music from Amhurst College (which was located in South Woodstock, CT). She earned an MLS in Information Technology and Library Science from Southern Connecticut State University.
